What is SWOT Analysis for?
SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) is the most widely used strategy tool in the world. It takes stock of a subject along two axes:
- Internal, what you control: your strengths 💪 and your weaknesses ⚠️;
- External, what you're exposed to: the opportunities 🌟 and threats ⚡ in your environment.
A classic SWOT often stops at 4 lists. Here, each item is scored, and the Yok-Kod engine works out your strategic position, the cross-strategies to follow and a prioritised action plan.

The steps, one by one
Set the context
Enter the subject (your company, a project, a product, a competitor, yourself…), its type, the industry, the time horizon (short, medium or long term) and, if you like, the scope and who commissioned the analysis.
Fill in the 4 quadrants
Add your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats: a short title, plus a description if needed. Stuck for ideas? The guiding questions 💡 suggest leads suited to the type of subject: click a question to add it to the quadrant.
Score each item
Give it an impact and a likelihood from 1 to 5. See how to score well.
Generate the analysis
Click "🚀 Generate the SWOT analysis". You get the scores, your position, the critical items and the charts. The action plan is also created automatically if it's empty.
Complete the action plan
In the "📋 Action plan" block, assign each action to an owner and set a deadline. You can also add your own conclusion in "📝 Manual summary".
Present and export
Launch Presentation mode in a meeting, or export your analysis. See the formats.
Scoring an item
| Criterion | Question to ask yourself |
|---|---|
| Impact (1 to 5) | If this item fully plays out, what effect does it have on the subject? 1 = negligible, 5 = decisive. |
| Likelihood (1 to 5) | How likely is it to happen or to be true? 1 = very unlikely, 5 = certain. |
| Score | Impact × likelihood, out of 25. From 15 upwards, the item is critical: it must be dealt with first. |
Understanding the strategic position
The tool compares the total of your strengths with your weaknesses (internal balance), and the total of opportunities with threats (external balance). The result places you in one of 4 situations:
| 🚀 Offensive | Strong assets + favourable environment: time to accelerate and invest. |
| 🛡️ Defensive | Strong assets + difficult environment: protect your positions and diversify. |
| 🔧 Improvement | Internal weaknesses + favourable environment: strengthen yourself before seizing opportunities. |
| 🚧 Avoidance | Internal weaknesses + difficult environment: reduce risks, consider pivoting or partnering. |
TOWS strategies
The TOWS matrix crosses the quadrants to turn your SWOT into decisions. The engine starts from your highest-scored items:
| SO — Strengths × Opportunities | Offensive strategies: use your strengths to seize opportunities. |
| ST — Strengths × Threats | Defensive strategies: use your strengths to counter threats. |
| WO — Weaknesses × Opportunities | Improvement strategies: fix your weaknesses to take advantage of opportunities. |
| WT — Weaknesses × Threats | Avoidance strategies: protect yourself where you're most exposed. |

AI (optional) (Pro)
Without AI, the tool already does the whole analysis. With AI, you get a written strategic review as if from a consultant: summary, reading of your position, missing items to add, risks, priority opportunities, recommendations, a 90-day plan, tracking indicators and a verdict.
- In the AI panel, choose your provider: Agnes, OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Mistral, Groq, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or any other OpenAI-compatible service. Create an API key on that provider's website (several offer free access, such as Agnes, Groq or Gemini). You can also choose the model; otherwise a fast, inexpensive model is used.
- In the "⚡ AI analysis" block, paste your key, click "🔌 Test" then "💾 Save", and tick "Turn on AI".
- Generate the analysis, or click "🔄 Regenerate with AI" in the Summary tab.
Where are my analyses saved?
Your analyses are saved in your browser, not on our servers, to protect your privacy. Find them in "📁 Saved analyses".
Discovery or Pro?
The discovery version gives you the whole tool and all its exports, with no daily quota; exported documents (HTML, PDF, Markdown, pictures) carry a small “Made with Yok-Kod” line, data files (CSV, JSON, ICS) never do. Pro removes that line and adds the AI strategic review and up to 30 analyses.

Pro for SWOT Analysis costs €19 as a one-off payment. It is also included in the Business Pack (€99) and in Full Access (€179).
Common issues
- Why is the "Generate" button greyed out?
- You need a subject name (2 characters minimum) and at least one item in one of the quadrants. The button tells you what's missing.
- What does "Too many requests, please wait a little" mean?
- You've run a lot of analyses in a short time. Wait a few minutes: generation has no daily quota, only a limit against abuse.
- Why didn't the results change after I edited my items?
- Click "Generate the SWOT analysis" again: the results are recalculated on each generation.
- Why didn't the action plan update?
- The automatic action plan is only created when it's empty, so your work isn't erased. To recreate it, use the automatic generation button in the Action plan block (existing actions will be replaced).
- Why can't I find my analysis any more?
- Make sure you're using the same computer, the same browser and the same account. Analyses don't sync between devices.
- Why won't the export download?
- Allow downloads for yok-kod.com in your browser, temporarily turn off any ad blocker, then try again.
