What is Video Storyboard for?
A storyboard breaks a video down into shots, like a comic strip: for each shot, you know what's seen, how it's filmed (framing, angle, camera movement), how long it lasts, who's in it and what's said. It stops you forgetting shots on set and losing hours in the edit.
Video Storyboard guides you from idea to shoot: scenes, shots with an automatic sketch, timeline, shot list, printable boards, casting, budget, shooting schedule and an analysis of your video's pacing.

3 ways to start
| ✨ Load the example | A complete short film ("The Awakening") to discover every feature in one click. |
| ⚡ Start from a template (Pro) | 10 ready-made structures: 30 s and 15 s ads, music video, tutorial, interview, vlog, short film, teaser, corporate, documentary. |
| ✍️ Start from your text | Write your script or idea, then create your shots by hand, or let the AI break them down (Pro). |
The steps, one by one
Describe your project
Title, video type, format (16:9, 9:16 for social media…), style, target length, tone and audience. Add your synopsis and your script if you have one.
Create your scenes and shots
In "Breakdown", add scenes (location, time of day), then shots in each scene. For each shot: framing, camera movement, angle, duration, description, characters, dialogue, sound, music, effects. A sketch is drawn automatically. You can also replace it with your own image (location photo, drawing…).
Complete the crew and production
Add your characters (role, appearance, costume, actor), the locations, the crew, the equipment, the shooting days, the budget (planned and actual) and post-production.
Analyse your storyboard
Click "🚀 Analyse the storyboard": total length, gap with the target length, pacing (shots per minute), framing mix, estimated shooting days, alerts (shots too long, identical shots in a row…) and recommendations.
Share, export and shoot
Print the boards, send the shot list to the crew, add the schedule to your calendar, then use Live mode on shoot day.
Shot types
| Code | Shot | Use it to |

| CU | Close-up | Chest and face: emotion. |
| ECU | Extreme close-up | A look, a detail: intensity. |
| INS | Insert | An object, a screen, a product. |

PDFs and Markdown can be exported in the discovery version too, with a “Discovery version · Made with Yok-Kod · yok-kod.com” line at the bottom of each printed page and at the end of the document; Pro removes it. Data exports (Excel, Trello, CSV, ICS, JSON) are for Pro members.

AI (optional) (Pro)
- 🎬 Pitch → storyboard: describe your idea in a few sentences and the AI suggests a complete storyboard.
- 🤖 Script → shots: the AI breaks your script down into scenes and technical shots.
- Staging variations: 3 different ways to film a shot, each with its sketch.
- 🧠 Story analysis: a "script doctor" opinion on your story's consistency and missing shots.
- 🎭 Casting assistant: a complete casting brief for each character.
- Storyboard review: the analysis written as if by a director.
- In the AI panel, choose your provider: Agnes, OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Mistral, Groq, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or any other OpenAI-compatible service. Create an API key on that provider's website (several offer free access, such as Agnes, Groq or Gemini). You can also choose the model; otherwise a fast, inexpensive model is used.
- In the "⚡ AI" block, paste your key, click "🔌 Test" then "💾 Save", and tick "Turn on AI".

Common issues
- Why is the "Analyse" button greyed out?
- You need a title (2 characters minimum), a video type and at least one shot. The button tells you what's missing.
- Why won't my image upload?
- Use a JPG or PNG image. It is compressed automatically (500 KB maximum). If the browser storage is full, delete images from old projects.
- Why can't I find my project any more?
- Make sure you're using the same computer, the same browser and the same account. Projects don't sync between devices.
- Why doesn't PDF import work?
- The PDF must contain text (not a scan). Otherwise, copy and paste your script into the Script section.
- Why won't the export download?
- Allow downloads for yok-kod.com in your browser, temporarily turn off any ad blocker, then try again.
