What is Roadmap Studio for?
There is never a shortage of ideas: customer requests, the team's wishes, fixes, long-term projects. Without a method, you pick whatever shouts loudest, label everything “high priority” and promise more than the team can deliver.
Roadmap Studio has you score each item with a recognised method (RICE, ICE, WSJF, MoSCoW, Kano, value / effort or your own weighted criteria), link it to a goal and estimate its effort, then shows you the ranking, the value / effort matrix, the Now / Next / Later roadmap and the workload per quarter or month compared with your capacity. It also spots badly ordered dependencies and scores the roadmap on 5 axes. No subscription, and your data stays in your browser.
With the other Yok-Kod tools
- SWOT Analysis brings out strengths to use and threats to handle: good sources of items and goals;
- Business Plan sets the big goals: reuse them as roadmap goals;
- Pitch Deck Builder: the public roadmap illustrates the “next steps” slide;
- Content Planner schedules the announcement of whatever leaves the “Now” column;
- README Generator: the Markdown export drops straight into a project's documentation.

The steps, one by one
Start from the demo or a template
🎁 Demo button: a software roadmap loads with 12 items, an overloaded period and a badly ordered dependency, so you can see the alerts at work. Pro members get 8 sector templates (📋 Templates), with or without example items. You can always go back with ↶ (Ctrl+Z).
Set your periods, capacity and goals
In ⚙️ Settings: effort unit (days, weeks or points), quarters or months, team capacity per period, then 2 to 4 goals.
Add your items
+ Item button (or the N key): a title, one sentence of description, a category, a goal, an effort. You can also import your spreadsheet or current tool in one go (📥 Import).
Choose a method and score
Click a method at the top (ⓘ Formula and scales recalls the calculation) and fill in the scores in each item's panel. The ranking updates as you type.
Arrange, check, publish
Place items in Now / Next / Later and in periods, follow the score's recommendations, then export the public roadmap or the Markdown for your team.
An item's panel
- Title, description, category, owner, tags (Enter to add).
- Goal: the roadmap goal the item serves.
- Status: idea, planned, in progress, done, dropped. Horizon: Now, Next, Later or to sort.
- Period (a quarter or a month) or target date: one or the other; the tool removes whichever contradicts the other.
- Effort in the project unit: used by the matrix, RICE, value / effort and the workload calculation.
- Scores for the chosen method, with the detailed calculation (for example 1,200 × 2 × 80% ÷ 6). The “Scores for the other methods” section lets you fill in everything: switching method loses nothing.
- Dependencies: what must be done first. The panel also shows what the item blocks.
- Show in the public roadmap: untick to keep an item internal.
The 7 prioritisation methods
| Method | Calculation | Scales |
|---|---|---|
| RICE | Reach × Impact × Confidence ÷ Effort | Reach: number of people over the same period; impact 0.25 / 0.5 / 1 / 2 / 3; confidence 100 / 80 / 50 / 20% |
| ICE | Impact × Confidence × Ease | Three scores from 1 to 10 (ease = the opposite of effort), result from 1 to 1,000 |
| WSJF | (Business value + Time criticality + Risk reduction / opportunity) ÷ Job size | Relative scores on the Fibonacci sequence: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 20 |
| MoSCoW | Must, then Should, Could, Won't; on a tie, the smaller effort | One category per item, for a given deadline |
| Kano | Must-be, then Performance, Attractive, Indifferent, Reverse; on a tie, importance then effort | Kano category + importance for customers from 1 to 5 |
| Value / effort | Value ÷ Effort | Value from 1 to 10, effort in the project unit |
| Weighted criteria | Σ (weight × score) ÷ Σ (weight × 5) × 100 | Up to 8 criteria, weight 1 to 5, scores 0 to 5; a “cost” criterion is reversed |
An item with incomplete scores is not ranked (“✎ to score”): the tool does not invent default values. In the ranking, on equal scores, the smaller effort comes first.
The 5 views
- 🏆 Ranking: a sortable table (rank, score and its calculation, value out of 10, effort, quadrant, status, horizon, period, owner).
- 🎯 Matrix: effort horizontally, value vertically, split at the project medians into quick wins, big bets, fill-ins and time sinks. Each dot can be opened with the keyboard, and each quadrant's list is repeated next to the chart.
- 🗺️ Now / Next / Later: drag cards from one column to another, or use the ⇄ button (keyboard and mobile).
- 📅 Quarters (or months): one column per period with its workload bar, plus “Before” for late items and “No period”.
- 📊 Statuses: idea, planned, in progress, done, dropped.
Filters (status, category, goal, owner, alert, search) apply to every view. Shortcuts: N new item, / search, Esc closes, Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo or redo.
Capacity and workload
Capacity is the effort the team can really deliver in a period. Example: 2 people × 12 weeks × 4 working days ≈ 96 days per quarter; take 15 to 20% off for the unexpected. You can adjust each period (holidays, hiring).
A period's workload adds up the effort of its items, done included, dropped excluded. An item takes its period, otherwise the one of its target date; a “Now” item with neither period nor date counts in the current period (≈). Above 100%, the period is overloaded; above 85%, there is no buffer left.
Dependencies
The tool flags: an item planned before what it depends on (earlier period or horizon), circular dependencies, a dropped dependency, an item started before its dependency is done, a dependency in the same period (possible, but to be ordered) or not planned. The 🔗 ⛔ 🔁 icons appear on cards; the “Dependency issue” filter isolates them.
Goals
In ⚙️ Settings, Goals tab: a name and an indicator (for example “Keep customers longer”, indicator: cancellations per month). Link each item to a goal: the tool checks that every goal has at least one item in Now or Next, and that no current item floats without a purpose.
The 5-axis score
| Axis | What is checked |
|---|---|
| Complete data | Method scores, effort, descriptions, categories, owners of current items, example content left, duplicates |
| Realistic workload | Capacity entered, overloaded or tight periods, unknown workload, missed dates, too many items in progress, size of “Now” |
| Balance | Spread across categories, goals covered, quick wins waiting, time sinks planned, what comes next, share of “Must” |
| Dependencies | Order, cycles, dropped dependencies, started too early, same period, not planned |
| Alignment | Goals defined, items linked, “Now” aligned, top-ranked items planned, “Now” consistent with the ranking |
The discovery version shows the score and 3 recommendations; Pro shows them all, with the names of the items concerned (“All checks”).
Importing a CSV
- From Excel, Google Sheets, Trello, Jira or Notion, save a CSV file: semicolon, comma or tab separated, detected automatically. You can also paste the content.
- Recognised columns in English or French: Title (required), Description, Category, Goal, Owner, Tags, Status, Horizon, Period (Q1 2027, 2027-Q1, 2027-03), Target date (mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy-mm-dd), Effort, Dependencies (titles separated by |), Public, and the methods' scores (Reach, Impact, Confidence, MoSCoW, Kano, Value…).
- Unknown goals are created; unknown statuses become “Idea”. The tool's own CSV export can be re-imported as is.
Exporting and publishing
- 📊 CSV: ranking, fields and every method's scores, for a spreadsheet.
- 📝 Markdown: goals, Now / Next / Later, ranking, workload per period and points to watch.
- 🌐 Public roadmap: a standalone HTML page, clear and readable on mobile, with Now / Next / Later and Delivered columns. You choose what appears; owners, effort and scores stay hidden unless you tick them. Items to sort, dropped or non-public ones are left out. 👁 Preview button before downloading.
- ⬇ JSON: the full backup, restored with ⬆ Restore (backups from the former “Roadmap Produit” tool are recognised).
AI (optional, Pro)
With your own key (Agnes, OpenAI, Claude, Mistral, Groq, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter or a compatible service), the assistant can estimate an item's scores for the chosen method from its description, break down a big idea into 3 to 6 smaller items, and write a roadmap summary for the team, management or customers. Its proposals are shown next to the current values and only apply once you approve them. It is instructed to use only your data, without inventing figures, dates or results. Your key stays in your browser and calls go through our server, never directly from the page.
Data and backup
Your roadmap is saved in your browser, on this device, automatically. The server receives the roadmap only to compute the analysis and exports, and does not keep it. Nothing is sent anywhere else, except the item or roadmap concerned to the AI provider when you use AI. Clearing browser data or changing computer starts you from scratch: make a regular JSON backup.
Discovery or Pro?
The discovery version gives you the whole tool and all its exports; exported documents (HTML, PDF, Markdown, pictures) carry a small “Made with Yok-Kod” line, data files (CSV, JSON, ICS) never do. Pro removes that line and adds AI, the 8 sector templates, 30 roadmaps and every recommendation.

Common problems
- An item shows “✎ to score” and has no rank.
- It is missing a score for the chosen method (or the effort for RICE and value / effort). Open its panel: the “To complete” line says what to fill in.
- An item does not appear in the matrix.
- It is missing effort or the value score: it is listed under “Not placed”. Done and dropped items are not shown there.
- A period's workload looks too low.
- Some items have no effort (“?” on the bar), or have neither a period nor a target date.
- My capacity changed when I switched to months.
- It is converted automatically (divided by 3 from quarter to month, multiplied by 3 the other way). Check it in ⚙️ Settings.
- I cannot add more items.
- A roadmap holds up to 500 items. Delete or merge items, or move some to another roadmap (the discovery version keeps 1 roadmap, Pro 30).
